The new leadership of the Takoradi Technical University Chapter of the Technical University Teachers Association of Ghana, TUTAG, have been sworn-in to steer the affairs of the association for the next three years.The executive members sworn-in includes Prof. Fredrick Boakye -Yiadom- President, Thomas Cudjoe -Vice President, Francis Bukari -Organizing Secretary, Alhassan Musah-Treasurer, and Ronald Osei Mensah-Secretary.

The Registrar of TTU, Dr. Moses Maclean Abnory, speaking at the swearing-in ceremony congratulated them and called for peaceful collaboration and collective work among the Unions.

He urged the new executives to demonstrate strong leadership qualities and uphold positive values, citing a quote from John Maxwell: “Leadership is not about titles or positions, but about impact, influence, and inspiration.”

The National President of TUTAG, Prof. U.S. Tetteh, who was in attendance assured the newly elected executives of his commitment to working closely with them and offering full support, particularly during congress. He also expressed optimism about pursuing greater achievements together.

Prof. Tetteh commended the outgoing executive team, acknowledging their dedication, wisdom, and teamwork, which he noted have laid a strong foundation for future progress.

The Outgoing Chairman of TTU TUTAG, Joseph Danso, in his speech highlighted several key achievements during his tenure including, construction of TUTAG Club house, the first amongst all Technical Universities in Ghana, payment of benefits to retired colleagues from the TUTAG support scheme, payment of Ex-gratia to retired colleagues, donation of assorted hospital equipment and consumables worth over Ghs90,000.00 to the University Hospital among others.

On his part, the new President of TTU TUTAG Chapter, Prof. Frederick Boakye- Yiadom, who was formerly the Secretary, underscored the vision of their leadership team.
“As we assume office, our vision is clear: to lead an association that prioritizes academic excellence, fosters strong social bonds among members, and promotes personal and professional development.’’ he stated.

He emphasized the team’s commitment to continuing with several strategic initiatives initiated by the past administration including, the TUTAG Hostel Project, Revitalization of the clubhouse and Upgrading the Retirees’ Office. Prof. Boakye-Yiadom also emphasized the team’s commitment to ensuring transparency and accountability as well as enhanced member benefits.

He proposed for the inclusion of women’s commissioner to the executives committee to oversee the affirmative action bill.
Prof. Boakye-Yiadom also stated that the new TUTAG executive team, under his leadership, will work to enhance academic support, improve welfare initiatives, and promote social engagement.

While appealing to the government to prioritize technical education by providing necessary tools and materials to enhance practical training, ensuring timely payment of book and research allowances to support students’ academic pursuits and issuing early quotations for payment rates to facilitate budgeting and planning, he also urged the government to include technical Universities in the 24- Hour Economy.
“We believe Technical Universities can play a vital role in the 24-hour economy by, offering flexible programs and training sessions, collaborating with industries to develop innovative solutions and Providing skilled workforce to support economic activities,” he said.

Management, Outgoing TUTAG Executives, Deans, Directors, Retirees and other union executives at the swearing took turns to congratulate the new executives, wishing them well in their term of leadership.
