PRESIDENT MAHAMA TO GRACE ARCTUG 2026

The fourth edition of the Applied Research Conference of Technical Universities of Ghana (ARCTUG 2026) will be hosted by Takoradi Technical University (TTU) from 25 to 29 May 2026, bringing together leading academics, industry experts, policymakers, and innovators to advance technical and vocational education and training (TVET) for national development.

Held under the theme“Advancing TVET for Innovation, Technology Transfer and Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Development,” the biennial conference will feature over 300 research papers and exhibitions showcasing practical innovations aimed at addressing real-world development challenges.

A major highlight of the event will be the expected presence of H.E. John Dramani Mahama as Special Guest of Honour, underscoring the national importance of the conference and Ghana’s renewed commitment to TVET-driven development. Also expected to attend is the Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu.

The conference will be chaired by Ing. Prof. Kwadwo Adinkra-Appiah, Chairman of the Vice Chancellors of Technical Universities of Ghana (VCTU-G), and hosted by the Vice Chancellor of TTU, Rev. Prof. John Frank Eshun.

It will bring together Vice Chancellors from technical universities across Ghana, alongside key national and institutional leaders, including the Director-General of CTVET, Dr. Zakari Suamana; the Director-General of GTEC, Prof. Abdulai Jinapor; and Prof. George K. T. Oduro, Technical Advisor to the Minister of Education.

Other distinguished guests include Prof. Eric Yirenkyi Danquah, Board Chairman of the Ghana National Research Fund; Nana Kobina Nketsia V, President of the Western Regional House of Chiefs; and Kofi Totobi-Kwakye, Board Chair of Ghana Gas and Dr. Justice Amoh (Justmoh).

Dr. Yaw Bediako a Ghanaian immunologist and biotech entrepreneur will deliver the keynote address, while the programme will feature panel discussions, technical presentations, and exhibitions focused on innovation, technology transfer, and entrepreneurship.

Organisers say ARCTUG 2026 will serve as a key platform for strengthening collaboration between academia, industry, and government, while positioning Ghana as a leader in applied research and sustainable TVET development.
