VC DECLARED BEST CEO IN GHANA’S PUBLIC UNIVERSITIES

The Vice Chancellor of Takoradi Technical University, Rev. Prof. John Frank Eshun, has been adjudged the 2023 Most Respected CEO in the PUBLIC UNIVERSITY category at the 6th Ghana Industry CEOs Awards held at the Marriott International Hotel, Accra.

The 2023 Ghana Industry CEOs Awards organized by Business Executive group, was graced by dignitaries including the Minister for Communications and Digitalization, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful. It was the sixth in a series of the annual awards scheme aimed at identifying the Most Respected CEOs in Ghana through public votes and practice of Good Corporate Governance in range of sectors.

Rev. Prof. Eshun was part of the about 400 CEOs of institutions shortlisted from over three million nomination forms received this year for the awards. The shortlists were subjected to public voting covering the various sectors, where Prof. Eshun topped the PUBLIC UNIVERSITY category.

To win the Most Respected CEO award, Rev. Prof. John Frank Eshun had to beat Prof. Philip Duku Osei, Vice Chancellor of SD Dombo University of Business and Integrated Development Studies, Prof. Elvis Asare-Bediako, Vice Chancellor of University of Energy and Natural Resources and Prof. Elias N. K. Sowley, Vice Chancellor of Dr. Hilla Limann Technical University, who were the other three top contenders in the Public University category.

After receiving his award, the Vice Chancellor of TTU, thanked the organisers for the recognition and said it will spear him on to do more.

“I believe teamwork makes a dream come through. I want to thank the organisers for giving me this award. It will motivate me to drive me to do more for mother Ghana’’, he said.

Rev. Prof. John Frank Eshun after several years of lecturing was appointed as the Rector of then Takoradi Polytechnic from 2015 to 2016. After the conversion of Polytechnics to Technical Universities, he become the interim Vice Chancellor and subsequently appointed the substantive first Vice Chancellor of Takoradi Technical University and currently in his second term as the Vice Chancellor of TTU.
