TTU SIGNS MOU WITH CONTRACTA FOR HANDS-ON TRAINING

A Memorandum of Understanding to pave way for students of Takoradi Technical University to gain hands-on construction engineering practical has been completed between TTU and Contracta Costruzioni of Italy. The MoU aimed offer students practical learning opportunities to enhance their skills in engineering and building technology was signed by the Vice-Chancellor of TTU, Rev. Prof. John Frank Eshun and the Institutional Relations Director of CONTRACTA, Renato Gerundio de Azevedo,

The Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Prof. John Frank Eshun, after signing on behalf of the University, expressed delight over the two entities coming together to collaborate to give students at the University an opportunity to learn the necessary industry expertise as they enter the world of work.

The Institutional Relations Director, Mr. Renato Gerundio de Azevedo, who signed on behalf of CONTRACTA also noted the essence of the agreement and expressed the desire of the company to help give some practical training to complement the studies of the students especially in the field of engineering.

Giving a remark, Mrs Edinam Adjei-Sika, Institutional Relations Manager, who witnessed the signing on behalf of CONTRACTA reiterated the importance of the MoU adding that the partnership will reward the best graduating Engineering Student with the CONTRACTA Award. This is aimed at encouraging these students to study hard and apply their knowledge to the benefit of the society at large.

Contracta Costruzioni Italia is currently redeveloping and constructing the Takoradi Market Phase I project, which consists of a total construction area of 35,010m2. The project, which is estimated to be completed by 2023, will boost the economic activities in the famous Takoradi Market circle and deliver a modern market to the good people of Takoradi and its neighbouring cities.

Other members of the University present at the signing were: Dr. Samuel Adentwi Bentum, Director-Career Development and Industrial Liaison, Ing Derrick Nii Laryea Botchway, Assistant Lecturer- Department of Civil Engineering and Mr. Mark Kofi Aremu – Head Industrial Liaison Office.
