OVERVIEW

The Department of Building Technology has existed for more than twenty (20) years and has been training high quality personnel for the Ghanaian construction industry. The Department can boast of experienced professionals who diligently impart the requisite skills and knowledge using competency-based training methods to produce building professionals in all sections within the construction industry.

MISSION
The Department seeks to equip its students with the skills and knowledge necessary to support the construction industry within and outside the country.

VISION
The vision of the Department is to become a hub of excellence with regard to research into building technologies and also the training of highly skilled professionals who can be leaders in the building industry.

OBJECTIVES
The objectives of the Department are to:
(1) continually undertake research into building and its related areas of study in order to find solutions to pertinent problems within the industry, and, consequently, improve upon the ways of imparting knowledge to students; and
(2) collaborate with industry and other stakeholders to develop students for current and future challenges, and, also, position them strategically to take advantage of opportunities in the construction industry.

PROGRAMMES
Currently, the Department runs the following programmes:
(a) Bachelor of Technology in Building Technology;
(b) Higher National Diploma (HND) in Construction Engineering and Management;
(c) Higher National Diploma (HND) in Plumbing and Gas Technology;
(d) Construction Technician Certificate courses (Part I, II & III).
