School of Graduate Studies (SGS)
The School of Graduate Studies (SGS) is the academic unit responsible for coordinating, administering and promoting postgraduate education at Takoradi Technical University. Established under the Technical Universities Act 2016 (Act 922), the SGS works across all eight faculties to deliver world-class graduate programmes aligned with TTU's research vision.
The SGS oversees all M.Tech, PhD, Postgraduate Diploma and Postgraduate Certificate programmes, ensuring academic quality, timely completion and student welfare at the graduate level. The school also coordinates research supervision, thesis examination and graduate student orientation.
TTU's graduate programmes are research-rich, industry-aligned and designed to produce graduates who can lead innovation and development in Ghana and beyond.
SGS Functions & Mandate
Programme Administration
Coordinates all M.Tech, PhD, PGDip and PGCert programmes across TTU's eight faculties, ensuring academic quality and compliance with GTEC standards.
Research Supervision
Matches graduate students with qualified supervisors, monitors research progress and ensures timely thesis/dissertation completion.
Thesis Examination
Manages all internal and external thesis examinations, oral defences (viva voce) and the processing of final awards.
Student Welfare
Provides support services for graduate students including orientation, academic counselling, mental health referrals and student advocacy.
International Linkages
Facilitates joint degrees, sandwich programmes and research collaborations with partner universities globally through the Directorate of International Programmes.
Quality Assurance
Works with the Directorate of Academic Quality Assurance to ensure all graduate programmes meet national and international standards.
