WR DRESSMAKERS RECEIVE CAPACITY BUILDING FROM TTU’s IDCE, CTVET

The Institute of Distance and Continuing Education, IDCE, of Takoradi Technical University in collaboration with the Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training, CTVET, has organized capacity building training workshops for the Western Regional branches of the Ghana National Tailors and Dressmakers Association as well as the Ghana National Association of Garment Makers at TTU.

The two-phased structured training sessions were themed, ‘Skills Upgrade Project for Job Creation’ and ‘Garment Making Skill Upgrade for Export’.

Participants of the first training workshop were taken through pattern making fundamentals, corsetry, modern trends, and gowns, sewing techniques/packaging and quality control, craft, and accessories. They also received training in business records keeping, digitization, branding, and packaging.

In the second training session, participants were taught modules on how to operate industrial sewing machines, cutting machines, training on marketable garment product research, pattern making fundamentals, sewing finishing, quality control, craft and accessories development and business management training.

The training was funded with a grant from the Ghana Skills Development Fund with the TTU’s Institute of Distance and Continuing Education acting as a consultant and a service provider to the project.
