Specialised centres driving innovation, enterprise and inclusive education at TTU.

Takoradi Technical University houses five Centres of Excellence that complement its academic programmes and research activities. These centres engage directly with industry and community to deliver specialised services, training and outreach programmes aligned with national development priorities.

Centre of Excellence — Oil & Gas Engineering

The Centre of Excellence for Oil and Gas Engineering supports TTU's role in the energy sector, particularly in the context of Ghana's oil and gas industry. Located in the Western Region — the hub of Ghana's petroleum activities — the Centre provides specialised training, consultancy and research services to the oil and gas industry.

Centre for Business Development & Entrepreneurship

The Centre for Business Development and Entrepreneurship (CBDE) promotes enterprise education and supports students and graduates in starting and growing businesses. The Centre provides business incubation, mentorship and capacity-building programmes aligned with Ghana's entrepreneurship agenda.

Centre for Languages & Liberal Studies

The Centre for Languages and Liberal Studies (CLLS) promotes multilingual competence, critical thinking and civic education among students. The Centre offers courses in French, Twi, and other languages, as well as humanities and social science subjects that complement technical programmes.

Centre of Excellence — Gender, Disability & Advocacy

The Centre of Excellence for Gender, Disability and Advocacy (CEGDA) promotes gender equity, disability inclusion and advocacy at TTU. The Centre coordinates gender mainstreaming activities across the University and provides support services for students and staff with disabilities.

Institute of Distance & Continuing Education

The Institute of Distance and Continuing Education (IDCE) at TTU provides flexible, blended-learning education for working professionals and individuals who cannot attend on-campus programmes. IDCE operates on a two-semester academic calendar and uses a combination of face-to-face contact sessions and online learning.
