The Vice Chancellor of Takoradi Technical University, Rev. Prof. John Frank Eshun, has been appointed as Ghana Representative to the Executive Board of the Association of Technical Universities and Polytechnics in Africa, ATUPA.
Until his appointment, Rev. Prof. Eshun was the Technical Universities’ Representative at ATUPA and now takes over from Prof. Ben Q. Honyenuga of Ho Technical University as Ghana Representative on the ATUPA Executive Board.
With his new appointment, he is expected to steer the affairs of ATUPA in Ghana and also represent Ghana on the ATUPA Executive Board for the next two years.
Established in 1978, ATUPA has the mandate to promote TVET for job creation and economic development in the member countries, following a resolution of the 7th Conference of Commonwealth Education Ministers held in Accra, Ghana in 1977.
Headquartered at the Technical University of Kenya in Nairobi, under a diplomatic agreement with the Government of Kenya, ATUPA has a membership of over 200 post-secondary educational institutions, comprising of technical universities, polytechnics, technical colleges and Vocational training institutes that are focused on the production of technical manpower and innovation to spearhead industrial development in Africa.
