Takoradi Technical University, TTU, has launched the International Certificate in Impact Entrepreneurship, ICIE, a three-month programme aimed at developing sustainable and impact-driven businesses.
The programme is part of the Green Entrepreneurship Acceleration and Incubation Programme, implemented in partnership with E4Impact and funded by the European Union. It seeks to build practical entrepreneurial capacity, promote sustainability-focused ventures, and bridge the gap between education and employability through mentorship, incubation, and internship opportunities.

Vice Chancellor of TTU, Rev. Prof. John Frank Eshun, described the initiative as forward-looking and aligned with Ghana’s national development agenda and global efforts toward inclusive economic growth.

“Across the globe and particularly here in Ghana, we are confronted with pressing challenges such as climate change, youth unemployment, environmental degradation, and the urgent demand for sustainable livelihoods. The Green Entrepreneurship Acceleration and Incubation Programme responds decisively to these realities by equipping young people with the skills, mentorship, resources, and ecosystem support needed to transform innovative green ideas into viable and scalable enterprises,” he said.

Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies and Programme Lead, Prof. Mrs. Abigail Gura, said the ICIE programme reflects the university’s commitment to innovation and sustainable employability.
“The ICIE programme has been carefully designed to respond to the realities of today’s development and labour markets, where entrepreneurship must go beyond profit-making to deliver measurable social, environmental, and economic impact,” she said.

She also praised the collaboration with E4Impact and commended efforts to deliberately include Persons with Disabilities.
The launch featured a business idea pitch session, giving selected participants the opportunity to present innovative concepts to investors. The programme will support up to five participants, with certification issued by the Catholic University of Milan, ensuring international recognition.
