TTU STRENGTHENS TIES WITH ASSIN KUSHEA

In a move to have a glowing relationship with the Chiefs and people of Assin Kushea in the Assin North District of the Central Region, the Pro Vice Chancellor of Takoradi Technical University, Prof. Victor Bondzie Micah together with the Registrar, Dr. Moses Maclean Abnory, have paid a courtesy call on the Omanhene of Assin Kushea Traditional Area, Nana Ahunabobrim Prah Agyensaim VI.

Assin Kushea is known for its envious cleanliness culture in Ghana and has become a unique clean model community for others to learn from.

Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof. Victor Bondzie Micah, while briefing the Paramount Chief on programmes of the University said what Nana Ahunabobrim Prah Agyensaim VI has been able to achieve with Assin Kushea as a model clean community gives TTU the enthusiasm to collaborate with him on all front to advance the cause of both the traditional area and TTU.

Registrar of TTU, Dr. Moses Maclean Abnory, highlighting on possible areas of collaboration between the traditional area and TTU, said a special training programme would be organized at TTU for all the queen mothers within the Assin Kushea traditional area on conflict management to enhance their role and relevance as traditional leaders.

Dr. Abnory also hinted of plans to partner with the Assin Kushea Traditional Area to develop the tourism potential of the area.

He explained to the visiting TTU delegation that, the campaign to keep his town clean has largely been successful mostly because the youth in his town have become the local police in making sure nobody drops any refuse on the ground.

In his reaction to the programmes that TTU offers, Nana Ahunabobrim Prah Agyensaim VI was grateful for the insight on some of the good works by the University, and therefore said West Africa must know about the existence of TTU.

He however charged TTU to place serious emphasis on technical education especially when it comes to finishing of artistic work through proper quality training.

Nana Ahunabobrim Prah Agyensaim VI said he is fully prepared to become an Ambassador of TTU and connect it with other external universities, but advised TTU to be very unwavering and bold to politicians who will not allow the University to function as academic institution.
