TTU STAFF TO RECEIVE EXPERT TRAINING ON GRANT WRITING

Takoradi Technical University, TTU, is set to receive expert training on grant-writing skills from the Senior Expert Service, SES, a Germany-based organization that provides voluntary expertise to institutions worldwide.

An SES expert is expected to spend a month at the University, training faculty and staff in effective grant proposal writing to improve their chances of securing funding for research and development projects.

Ahead of the training, Susanna Matthes, Project Coordinator of SES, and Patience Avea, SES Representative in Ghana, engaged the management of TTU to introduce SES and explore potential areas of collaboration.

The discussions focused on how SES can support the University beyond grant writing, including capacity building and technical expertise exchange.

Pro Vice Chancellor of TTU, Prof. Victor Kweku Bondzie Micah expressed appreciation for the partnership and emphasized the importance of grant acquisition in advancing research and innovation at the University.

He further called for collaboration in other areas especially faculties, that could benefit the University.

Project Coordinator of SES, Susanna Matthes, provided a brief overview of the organization and the services it offers. She assured the University of SES’s willingness to collaborate in other areas of interest.

“Our main objective is to help train individuals and institutions through our experts. We send out experts on assignments for both short-term and long-term periods. They are not there to replace anyone but are ready to train. They come from all fields, and our clients are very diverse as well. We have companies and many clients from the education and health sectors, as well as associations and NGOs. We are open to anything. We don’t work on projects for ourselves but rather based on client demand.

We have more than 3,000 experts across various fields, so we strive to find someone with the right experience who fits your needs.,” she explained.

Director of TTU’s Directorate of Research and Innovation, Prof. Maame Efua Nkrumah, noted that the expert staying for a month would not only teach grant writing but also assist in drafting proposals.

“we know that one of our key roles is grant writing. We saw that we had received a lot of training, but we needed someone to be present to assist us. We got to know about the German Senior Expert Service and applied. It has been a back-and-forth process, but finally, one expert will be coming. He will be in our office for a month, and the main purpose is to help us write grants—not just to teach us but to work alongside us,” she explained.
