The Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has sworn-in a 19-member Governing Council for Takoradi Technical University appointed by the President in consultation with the Council of State, at a short ceremony at the GTEC Conference Room in Accra.
Prof. George Adjei who has experience in higher education is the Chairman of the TTU Governing Council to steer the affairs of the university for the next four-years.

Other members are the Vice Chancellor of TTU, Rev. Prof. John Frank Eshun, and the three persons nominated by the President are Dr. Felix Nelson Amoako, Mr. Tetteh Mamah and Madam Judith Amma Seidu. Dr. Ankomah-Asare Evans Takyi is also a member representing the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission, GTEC, whiles Mr. Samuel Thompson is representing the Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training, CTVET.
The remaining are Mr. Joseph C. Garbrah, representative of the Association of Ghana Industries, AGI, Mrs. Guddy Abena Ampomah Kermah, representative of Conference of Heads of Assisted Senior High Schools, Mr. Kojo Ennin Oppan, non-teaching staff and Dr. Kofi Kwarteng, represents Convocation, Prof. Frederick Boakye-Yiadom, is the representative of the teaching staff elected by the TUTAG.

Madam Adwoa Yeboah represents the Senior Staff Association on the Council, Mr. Francis Reinert Amoah represents the Junior Staff Association, Mr. Selwyn Ebenezer Mensah, represents the undergraduate students at the Technical University, Mr. Peter Owusu-Akyaw Jr., represents graduate students, whiles Prof. Eric Bruce-Amartey Jr. represents TTU alumni.
The Ghana Employers Association is represented on the Council by Ing. Edward Anseeku Amankrah and finally, the Association of Principals of Technical Institute is represented by Mrs. Sarah Andah Monney.
Speaking at the swearing-in, the Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu stated that the President holds the highest regard for the competencies of the council members and expects the council to assist the President in achieving the “reset” agenda. He specifically mentioned the Vice Chancellor, Prof Eshun, expressing trust in his experience as VC and his membership on the GETFund Board to drive development at the University.

The Chairman of the TTU Governing Council, Prof. George Adjei expressed gratitude to the President and the Minister of Education for the nominations and the confidence placed in the council members. He pledged that the council would fulfil its mandate as established by law and elevate the University to become the best in Ghana.
In attendance were Seth Tekper, Special Advisor to the President; Prof Ahmed Jinapor Abdulai, Director-General of GTEC; and Dr Newnan, Director of Tertiary Education at the Ministry of Education and Dr. Moses Maclean Abnory, Registrar, Takoradi Technical University.
