TTU, DUT SIGN 3-YEAR ACADEMIC COLLABORATION MOU

Takoradi Technical University, TTU, and Durban University of Technology, DUT, of South Africa have signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, for Academic Collaboration. This is in pursuit of excellence in scholarship and dissemination of knowledge to generate benefit within a framework of openness, fairness and equity in the interest of the two Universities.

Signing the MoU on behalf of their respective institutions, the Vice Chancellor of TTU, Rev. Prof. John Frank Eshun  and the Deputy Vice Chancellor In-charge of Research at Durban University of Technology, Prof. Sibusiso Moyo, agreed that the purpose is to provide for cooperation on academic activities of the two institutions that will strengthen mutual understanding, foster friendly co-operation and to promote sustainable and productive academic collaboration and exchange between faculty, students and research of both parties in integrated learning programmes.

They, therefore, expressed their intention to facilitate and develop a meaningful and mutually beneficial relationship, and to encourage the development of new collaborative undertakings.

Some of the academic collaborations envisaged from the MoU will include Research collaboration, Exchange of faculty members and research personnel, Exchange of academic information and materials, publications, research databases, and courseware.

Others will include sharing of library resources such as research papers, indices, books and magazines on relevant subjects where possible and appropriate, Sponsoring and conducting joint conferences, seminars, colloquia, training programmes, workshops as well as Extending invitations for attending scholarly and technical meetings and assisting in planning for attending national and international conferences.

Each institution may exchange students upon mutual agreement, for a period not exceeding one year.

To facilitate controlled and effective communication between the two institutions, Professor Maame Afua Nkrumah of Takoradi Technical University and Dr. Lavern Samuels of Durban University of Technology were appointed as the contact persons for the MoU.

The 3-year MoU shall be renewed for an additional period of three years upon an official exchange of letters.
