Pecan Energies and Takoradi Technical University’s Scholarship Scheme has appointed Mrs. Olivia Agyeman, a Deputy Registrar and Faculty Officer of Engineering, as Patron for the Scholarship programme. The Pecan Energies-TTU Scholarship Scheme was instituted as a result of a Memorandum of Understanding, signed earlier between the two institutions to provide scholarship for TTU students from the coastal communities of the Western Region. The patron of the Scholarship Scheme who was appointed during a courtesy call on the Vice Chancellor of TTU by officials of TTU, will have the role of guiding and supporting scholarship recipients, ensuring they receive not only financial aid but also mentorship and career advice.
Vice Chancellor of TTU, Rev. Prof. John Frank Eshun while speaking at the appointment of the Patron emphasised the importance of the scholarship programme introduced by Pecan Energies in fostering and promoting education in less privileged communities.
“We have close to 18,000 students. Every academic year, we recruit about 8,000 students. We conduct outreach activities as part of our community responsibilities, reaching out to areas like Amanful Kuma and New Takoradi to facilitate access to education for youth in coastal areas. Some people find it difficult to access education, so we aim to guide them and offer scholarships to enable their education. Your collaboration is therefore a blessing, and I believe it will greatly benefit the youth in our area. We will coordinate to ensure our students receive the best possible support,” he said.
A Senior Advisor at Pecan Energies, Emmanuel Appiah, on his part urged TTU to promote the scholarship programme to students during the University’s outreach to less privileged communities.
“We are proud of the students from this school based on what we have witnessed over the years. We also hope that during your outreach activities, you will promote our scholarship package to them. We encourage many of them to apply for our scholarship programme,” he urged.
The Pecan Energies-TTU Scholarship Scheme is open to students pursuing various fields of study, aligned with Pecan Energies’ focus on promoting education in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) disciplines as well as business-related fields.
