AmaliTech, a global IT firm has provided Takoradi Technical University with a mechanized borehole water system to help with adequate and regular water provision to the university community. AmaliTech already has a Memorandum of Understanding with TTU which is assisting students to develop innovative ideas from technology research and to build capacities in the digital space to create applications and digital solutions in the world of work.

Speaking at the commissioning and handing over of the completed mechanized borehole water facility, the Director of Operations at AmaliTech, Mathew Opoku Darkwa said the project is its commitment to fulfilling AmaliTech’s Corporate Social Responsibility to TTU community in-line with the already established partnership between the two institutions.

“Water is important to human life and that’s why we ought to do it. The project aims to provide a reliable water source for employees, students, or close-by residents on campus following the inconsistent supply of water in the Oduro block”, he said.

Highlighting on the importance of the relationship with TTU, the Director of Operations of AmaliTech said the MoU sign in 2019 is already bearing fruits.

“AmaliTech has been extremely pleased with the support that we’ve had with TTU. Without TTU, it would have been very difficult for us getting the talents that we need to train. As a result, out of our graduate training programme, we have trained 77 people from TTU, which is about 34% of the people that we’ve trained over the period. With National Service, we’ve had about 35 people from TTU which is about 25% of the people that we’ve actually trained for national service through our other programmes. In terms of offers that we’ve had or people that we’ve taken on from national service working with us, we have had 17 People from last year, which is 21% of the people that we’ve actually recruited“, he said.

Vice Chancellor of Takoradi Technical University, Rev. Prof. John Frank Eshun, who together with the AmaliTech Director of Operation commissioned the borehole water system on behalf of TTU commended AmaliTech for the project. He said the borehole water system would ensure reliable water supply for smooth academic work.

“We thank Amalitech for this wonderful gesture…I’m very happy that you have taken a giant step to come to our aid to help us get this borehole to supply water to this huge university facility which we have some challenges that has also affected you…I pray that you continue to also look elsewhere and see what we can do aside your mandate here. I want you to try and lookout for other project that you think can be beneficial to the two institutions”, he said.

Other officials present at the commissioning event were the Acting Pro VC., Evang. Prof. Anthony Joe Turkson and the Registrar, Dr. Moses Maclean Abnory as well as some Deans and Directors.
