COUNCIL CHAIRMAN TOURS TTU CAMPUSES

The new Chairman of the Governing Council of Takoradi Technical University (TTU), Ing. Prof. Christian Kwaku Amuzuvi, has embarked on a familiarisation tour of the University’s three campuses to gain first-hand insight into the institution’s current state. The tour is intended to equip him with the information needed to effectively guide the affairs of the Governing Council.

Accompanied by members of Management and guided by the Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Prof. John Frank Eshun, Ing. Prof. Amuzuvi first toured the ultra-modern ICT Centre and the Jubilee Technical Training Centre at the main campus, where he observed ongoing activities. He subsequently inspected the TTU Basic School near the main campus, which is also under construction.

From there, the team proceeded to the Butumajebu Campus (BU), where he was warmly received by the Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies, Prof. Abigail Gura.

In her welcome address, Prof. Gura expressed delight at hosting the Council Chairman. She noted that the Faculty has achieved significant milestones in recent years, including successfully hosting the inaugural International Business and Research Conference (IBERC). She added that, alongside the many programmes currently offered, plans are well advanced to introduce additional programmes next year.

Highlighting recent accomplishments, Prof. Gura stated that the Faculty of Business Studies is one of the University’s eight key faculties with members featured in the 2026 AD Scientific Index rankings.

In his remarks, the Governing Council Chairman commended the Faculty for its achievements. He emphasised, however, the need for the University to actively publicise such accomplishments to enhance public awareness and appreciation of its progress.

“We do not tell our stories enough. Let us invest in publicity to share our achievements so that people can appreciate our work. If we do not tell our story, others will tell it for us,” he urged.

Prof. Amuzuvi further encouraged staff to remain committed to their duties, stressing that hard work is essential for TTU to achieve its objectives.

He subsequently inspected a building under construction at the BU Campus.

At the Akatakyi Campus, Prof. Amuzuvi toured a student hostel facility under construction, urging contractors to work diligently to meet project timelines. He also visited several state-of-the-art workshops and classrooms at the Akatakyi Engineering Campus.

While commending Management for their efforts to operationalise the Akatakyi Campus, Prof. Amuzuvi assured that every effort would be made to ensure its full utilisation as soon as possible.

Other members of Management who joined the tour included the Registrar, Dr. Moses Maclean Abnory; the Director of Works and Physical Development, Ing. Philip Kwaw; and the Director of Internal Audit, Madam Elizabeth Obeng.

Everything that I learned at TTU really helped put me above the competition in the field of mechanical engineering.
