REV. PROF. JOHN FRANK ESHUN-VICE-CHANCELLOR, TTU

“As part of the Council Chairman’s three year vision to transform TTU into a world class technology centre, he launched the TTU Tobinco Scholarship Scheme to drive home his vision. The vision is based on the core values of sincerity, quality service to our stakeholders and unity within the University which he hinged on six thematic areas of Leadership and development of financial stability, research and industrial based human research, infrastructure development and growth of staff and students welfare. The scheme shall provide financial assistance to brilliant but financially disadvantaged students in the region to pursue their university education. As part of that vision, the scheme will also help to promote a yearly competition among students to promote talent and technology skills. This scheme is limited to 90% of the students in the western region, and 10% to the other regions. I am certain that this scholarship scheme will change the narrative of many brilliant but needy students and help them achieve their aspiration in life. I’m confident that this honorable board of trustees will discharge their mandate diligently to ensure that you achieve the purpose of the scheme. Let me assure you that management of Takoradi Technical University is ever ready and willing to support your activities to achieve your mandate, because your success will translate to the growth of the University and its corporate social responsibility drive…We need you try to get the policy of the scholarship scheme ready as soon as possible so students can access it as new admission is underway“, he said.

Chairman of the newly inaugurated Board of Trustees, Apostle Dr. Daniel Okere Walker on behalf of the seven-member trustee expressed appreciation for the trust reposed in them as trustees. As a former beneficiary of a scholarship scheme himself, Apostle Dr. Walker assured the university community of their commitment to the assigned responsibility.

APOSTLE DR. DANIEL OKERE WALKER-CHAIRMAN, TTU SAM TOBIN SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME BOARD OF TRUSTEES

“it was through scholarship that I’m here. So this should be something that we should put our attention to and work very hard and make sure that the funds are well protected, and that the scholarship goes to those who actually need it and this is where we as board members we have to pay particular attention. In this country, we have seen scholarships schemes which support has not actually gone to the people who needed it, but to people who just took advantage of the system, and those who can afford are rather enjoying these benefits. I pray that for this one at Technical University, the scholarship will go to the right people. I’m also grateful to God that this is coming to a Technical University. I’m praying that as people benefit from this, TTU will also be on top of the technological professionalism so that when people graduate from here, they would be good ambassadors of TTU”, he noted.

Present at the inauguration was the Registrar of TTU, Dr. Moses Maclean Abnory. The Board of Trustees of the TTU Sam Tobin Scholarship Scheme have the mandate to manage and make decisions to protect the stakeholders’ best interests, assure the financial integrity and solvency of the scheme, and also establish procedures to safeguard the scheme from fraud and risk.

Everything that I learned at TTU really helped put me above the competition in the field of mechanical engineering.
