Takoradi Technical University, TTU, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, with JOSH Training Institute to collaborate on the delivery of internationally accredited training programmes in aviation, travel, tourism and hospitality.
The partnership is expected to enhance skills development at TTU through the establishment of an IATA Authorised Training Centre, ATC, and an Amadeus Laboratory on the university’s campus.

Under the agreement, TTU will collaborate with JOSH Training Institute to promote and enrol students into IATA-accredited programmes delivered by JOSH. The University will facilitate student recruitment through its academic departments, institutional networks and communication platforms, provide appropriate space, furniture and computers for the IATA ATC and Amadeus Lab, and offer academic support for all collaborative and community outreach programmes. TTU will also support visiting lectureships and academic exchange initiatives between both institutions.

On its part, JOSH Training Institute will provide the required software for the establishment of the IATA ATC and Amadeus Lab, offer technical support for all collaborative and community outreach programmes, and support visiting lectureships and academic exchanges between the two institutions.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, the Director of JOSH Training Institute, Ms Afua Obeng, expressed excitement about the partnership, noting that it marks an important step towards international-standard training.

“We have been through the discussions, and today it is a pleasure for us to be here to sign the MOU which elaborates on several key issues to train students to international standards. It is with great pride that we announce that IATA has authorised us and certified us as an Authorised Training Centre. We are setting off on this journey together and we look forward to what lies ahead,” she said.
The Vice Chancellor of TTU, Rev. Prof. John Frank Eshun, welcomed the partnership and thanked JOSH Training Institute for the collaboration.

“On behalf of Management, I would like to officially welcome you and thank you for partnering TTU to train our students to the international level. We hope this training will help us stay on top among all technical universities in Ghana,” he expressed.
Victor Anderson Hodibert, Head of Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management explained the rationale behind the choice of JOSH Training Institute as a partner.
He said MoU will put students of TTU at the forefront of skills acquisition and prepare them to work with international organizations.
