The Directorate of Quality Assurance and Academic Planning, DQAAP, of Takoradi Technical University, TTU, has organised a one-day workshop on the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission’s, GTEC, Accreditation Management Information System, AMIS, for Deans, Directors and Heads of Department, aimed at strengthening the University’s capacity to adapt to GTEC’s digital accreditation processes.
GTEC’s transition to a fully paperless accreditation system, as part of its digital transformation agenda, informed the workshop, which was designed to equip participants with practical skills to upload and manage academic programmes on the AMIS portal.

Acting Head of GTEC’s MIS/IT, Mr. Benjamin Hackman, took participants through a comprehensive overview of the AMIS platform. He outlined key benefits of the system, including faster processing, real-time tracking of applications, transparency, convenience, and secure record keeping, followed by hands-on training on step-by-step accreditation procedures.
The Pro Vice Chancellor of TTU, Prof. Ing. Ebenezer Boakye, emphasised the need for institutional readiness, noting that since April 2024, GTEC has fully transitioned to an online accreditation system, eliminating the submission of multiple hard copies of curricula.

Prof. Ing. Boakye, a former Director of Quality Assurance and Academic Planning, explained that the increasing workload associated with accreditation can no longer be handled by the Directorate alone, making the active involvement of Deans and Heads of Department critical to ensuring efficiency and compliance.

The Registrar of TTU, Dr. Moses Maclean Abnory, highlighted TTU’s position as a leading Technical University and stressed the importance of remaining proactive and compliant with national and global standards, noting that adherence to GTEC’s directives is mandatory.

On his part, the Director of Quality Assurance and Academic Planning, Prof. Kweku Safo-Ankama, expressed appreciation to Management and participants, explaining that with GTEC’s move to a paperless system, all accreditation documents must be converted into soft copies and uploaded through the AMIS platform to meet required standards.
