The Director of Finance of Takoradi Technical University, TTU, Dr. Gabriel Sam Ahinful, has urged students to cultivate a change of mindset to be successful in life.
Speaking on Financial Investment at an Entrepreneurship Seminar, as part of the SRC Week Celebration, Dr. Ahinful said one way a person can live a successful life and enjoy financial freedom is by changing one’s mindset towards life and cultivating the habit of perseverance. He mentioned that this is a critical foundation for personal and financial growth.

“The whole facet of success starts from the mind. Everything starts from your head, and today that is going to be the focus of our discussion. You can read about all the successful people and how they made it, and it all comes down to their mindset. So, whether you will be successful or not depends on your mindset. Let’s change our mindset. If you want to change your life, you need to change your thinking. So, let’s start and work on our thinking. Some of you give up so easily — ‘My family has never been successful, so I will also not be successful.’ Rather, think in a positive direction,” he emphasized.

While engaging the students on investment, he urged them to have multiple streams of income, invest time and energy wisely, build trust and networks, learn to save money and be consistent in their financial journey.
Dean of Student Affairs of TTU, Prof. Bruce Amartey Jnr., who spoke on the topic: Personal Development, highlighted the need for students to take responsibility for their growth and adopt habits that will prepare them for the challenges of the business world.

“Participate in workshops, seminars and extracurricular activities. I encourage you to cultivate a growth mindset, embrace challenges, and learn from failures. Also, develop a professional network for mentorship and collaboration,” he advised.
He further called on students to be intentional about investing in themselves, emphasizing that growth is the foundation for the future.

Manager of TTU’s Radio Premier, Joshua Anim, also in a presentation on the Higher Level of Thinking concept and the importance of acquiring soft skills, stressed that in addition to technical expertise, qualities such as communication skills, time management and problem-solving abilities are vital for success in today’s competitive job market.

He urged students to identify their talents or gifts and maximize them for profit. Mr. Anim also encouraged them to nurture effective networking and self-branding as essential tools for self-development in the entrepreneurial space.

The SRC organized Entrepreneurship Seminar also had a panel discussion and open forum for students to interact on the topics presented.
