Asso. Prof. Mrs. Maame Afua Nkrumah was born on April, 1975 in the Central Region of Ghana. She is an Associate Professor at the Centre for Languages and Liberal Studies (CELLIBS), Takoradi Technical University (TTU) and is currently the Dean of International Programmes and External Linkages Office (IPELO).

 

Asso. Prof. Mrs. Nkrumah is also a part-time lecturer at the Ghana Telecom University. Her areas of specialisation are Educational Quality Assurance and Educational Management, Assessment and Evaluation. She holds a PhD in Education and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Research Methods from the University of Bristol, United Kingdom. She obtained her Masters Degree in Educational Management Assessment and Evaluation from the University of Twente in The Netherlands and her Bachelor of Science Education from the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Ghana. She is a teacher by profession and was trained at the OLA Training College, Cape Coast. She has taught at both the basic and secondary school levels in Ghana. Prof. Mrs. Nkrumah had her Senior Secondary education at Fijai Secondary School in Sekondi and her Junior Secondary education at the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA) Junior Secondary School in Takoradi.

 

Among the many departments/units within TTU that she has headed are: The Examinations Unit, The Academic Quality Assurance Unit and The Centre for Languages and Liberal Studies. She has, additionally, been a member of some high-profile committees and boards, including: The Executive Committee, The Planning and Resource Committee, The Business Development Board and The Academic Board of TTU. Prof. Nkrumah has also chaired a number of Committees and Boards, with the recent ones being The Library and The Publications Boards respectively. She currently has over 19 peer reviewed publications in both local and international refereed journals. She has attended and presented papers at both local and international conferences. Her research interest is in educational quality assurance and institutional effectiveness using both qualitative and quantitative (e.g. multilevel modelling) approaches.

 

Asso. Prof. Mrs. Maame Afua Nkrumah has obtained training in the following areas: How to Survive as a Scientist in the Higher Education Environment (by DAAD), How to Manage International Offices (University of Cape Coast and University of Mines and Technology), How to Publish (Elsevier Publish Campus Author Workshop), Assessment of Competency Based Training (National Board for Professional and Technical Education) and Improving Management and Leadership Capacity Programmes (NPT/UCC).

 

She has further been involved in the management of a number of projects, both at the local and international levels. For example, she is a project member for the Establishment of a Renewable Energy Education Framework (REEF) – Across-universities in Ghana for a sustainable curriculum focus (2020-2023) between Hochschule Düsseldorf (HSD) of Germany and the following five Ghanaian universities: Cape Coast Technical University (CCTU), Koforidua Technical University (KTU), University of Cape Coast (UCC) and Takoradi Technical University (TTU).
