Takoradi Polytechnic has agreed on a bilateral educational agreement with Changchun University of Technology for staff of the two Institutions. An MOU was signed by the Rector and President of the two respective Institutions, at Ningbo in China, where the President hosted both Rector and Vice Rector. Through the agreement, staff of the Polytechnic will be pursuing PhD programmes in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics, and ICT. The goal is to improve the human resource capacity of the Polytechnic.

At the signing ceremony, the Rector of the Polytechnic indicated that the Polytechnic was leaving no stone unturned to strengthen the teaching capital of the polytechnic in order to enable them to deliver competent skills to students. Competent skills would endow students with secure skills required for the socio-economic development of the country. He stressed the Polytechnic’s strategic objective to position itself as a first-class Engineering and Science Institution in Ghana, and its commitment to institutional collaboration to achieve this feat.

The Rector is hopeful that the learning opportunity will expose lecturers from engineering and science disciplines to modern pedagogies in the tertiary classroom. Staff of the Changchun University of Technology will also be sponsored for studies in the Polytechnic. The anticipation is that the Institution would provide the calibre of students who meet industrial expectations

The President of Changchun University of Technology commended Takoradi Polytechnic for being the first tertiary institution from Sub-Saharan African to clinch such collaboration for scholarship.
